East Division Update - April 6th (New Format)

The East division had four games tonight, meaning all 8 teams in the division were in action. Pittsburgh visited MSG for the start of a two-game series, the Islanders hosted Washington, the Bruins took a trip to Philly, and the Sabers traveled to New Jersey. I will be trying a new format on this post and for the next few weeks, as I am nearing college graduation and will be very busy until right around the playoffs.

BRUINS @ FLYERS


Boston keeps rolling, Patrice Bergeron adds Hattrick in 4-2 win over struggling Flyers.


Scoring and Goaltending:


Bruins: Patrice Bergeron (13, 14 - PPG, 15), Brad Marchand (SH - 18). Goaltender - Jeremy Swayman, 40 saves on 42 shots.


Flyers: Jake Voracek (6), Shayne Gostisbehre (6). Goaltender - Carter Hart, 22 saves on 25 shots (Bergeron EN).






PENGUINS @ RANGERS


Rangers put up 8, Pittsburgh allows 15 goals in two games due to horrid defensive play in blowout loss at MSG.


Scoring and Goaltending:


Penguins: Jared McCann (10 - PPG), Mike Matheson (4), Jake Guentzel (17), Brian Dumoulin (1). Goaltending - Tristan Jarry (Pulled, allowed 4 goals on 11 shots); Casey DeSmith, allowed 4 goals on 14 shots.


Rangers: Colin Blackwell (10), Mika Zibanejad (13), Artemi Panarin (12 - PPG), Ryan Strome (12 - PPG), Alexis Lafreniere (6), Adam Fox (5 - SHG), Pavel Buchnevich (15). Goaltending - Igor Shestirken, allowed 4 goals on 45 shots.





CAPITALS @ ISLANDERS


Washington stale on offense, Varlamov blanks former club in 1-0 Isles win.


Scoring and Goaltending:


Capitals: No Goals. Goaltending - Vitec Vanecek allowed 1 goal on 39 shots.


Islanders: Brock Nelson (14). Goaltending - Semyon Varlamov, shutout on 29 shots.





SABERS @ DEVILS


Buffalo wins 3rd in 4 games, Devils lose another close one at home as Sabers win 5-3. Taylor Hall also kept out of the game for Buffalo with potential trade looming.


Scoring and Goaltending:


Sabers: Rasmus Asplund (4), Brandon Montour (5), Rasmus Dahlin (3), Casey Mittelstadt (4 - PPG), Rasmus Ristolainen (4). Goaltending - Linus Ullmark, allowed 3 goals on 30 shots.


Devils: Damon Severson (3), Jesper Bratt (5 - PPG), Pavel Zacha (8). Goaltending - Scott Wedgewood, allowed 4 goals on 17 shots (Ristolainen EN).
