The lone matchup from last night was a good one, although it probably shouldn't have been based on the rosters on paper. The game featured the New York Rangers and the Boston Bruins at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

This game did not disappoint, as many thought it maybe would have. The Bruins came in having won three straight, and looked to continue that trend against a Rangers team that is slumping, having lost it's last two games. The scoring started 13:50 into the first period, with rookie forward Frederick Guthier picking up his first NHL goal. The goal put the Rangers in front 1-0, a lead which they carried into the second period. The Bruins would respond at 9:41 in period two, with a short-handed goal by Chris Wagner. The Bruins have been lethal on the penalty-kill this season, with 3 shorthanded goals in 14 games. The Bruins kept pressing, and halfway through the third would get a goal from Anders Bjork, his first of the season. The game is pretty even from there, until Kevin Rooney scores for the New York Rangers at 11:22 of the third. The action would take overtime, as each team had two a piece after 60 minutes of hockey. The Bruins didn't take long to claim the extra point with Brad Marchand capitalizing on a turnover, just :36 seconds in. The Bruins claim the second point, and remain in the top seed in the MassMutual East Division. The Rangers fought hard for this point they earned, but continue to make critical mistakes with that young core on defense.
