East Division Update - February 22nd

SABERS @ ISLANDERS

There was only one game on tap in the East tonight, and that game included the Buffalo Sabers and the New York Islanders in Long Island. The Sabers would battle hard in this one, fighting back, but still losing to an Islanders team that knows how to defend leads and score timely goals. The game was tied through most of the third period, until Jean Gabriel Pageau scored another, continuing his hot streak and coming up clutch for the Isles. The Islanders started their four-game homestand with a W, brushing off back-to-back losses to the Pittsburgh Penguins last week. The Sabers, however, continue to give up goals at critical times of games, and that shows in the standings.

2nd Period - New York: Anders Lee, 8th of the season (Even Strength).

3rd Period - New York: Matt Martin, 2nd of the season (Even Strength), Jean Gabriel Pageau, 7th of the season (PPG). Buffalo: Sam Reinhart, 6th of the season (PPG).
