The game was fast-paced and provided lots of chances for both teams. The Devils got the start they wanted, keeping pace with the Islanders all the way through regulation of this one. They continued to play well in overtime, keeping the game close and forcing the Islanders to play their defensive style. The Isles and Devils would need a shootout to decide this one, with Scott Wedgewood keeping the Devils in it throughout the duration of the game. Oliver Wahlstrom got the winning goal in the shootout for New York, as they won their 9th straight game. The Devils gave up another big point, and despite playing well today did not earn themselves the two points they desperately needed. The Islanders were playing their second straight contest without captain Anders Lee due to injury but still managed to sure two big points in the game.
Scoring:
Islanders: Kiefer Bellows (3), Brock Nelson (12). Shootout - Anothony Beauvillier, Oliver Wahlstrom (Winner).
Devils: Janne Kuokkanen (5, PPG), Yegor Sharongovich (5). Shootout - Nikita Gusev.
