There was only one game in the division today, that featured the New Jersey Devils and the Washington Capitals. My analysis of this one below.

The Capitals ran over the Devils in this one and proved that they are a much better team. The Caps took this one at home 4-0 and showed New Jersey that they still have work to do if they want to be competitive in the East division. The Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin is heating up as well, scoring twice in this game. A big reason for Washingtons' success as of late is their improved goaltending and their improved defensive play since the start of the season.

Scoring:

Devils: No Goals.

Capitals: Alex Ovechkin (16,17), Nicklas Backstrom (13), Conor Sheary (7).

Standings Update After Tonight:

  1. Washington

  2. NY Islanders

  3. Pittsburgh

  4. Boston

  5. Rangers

  6. Flyers

  7. Devils

  8. Sabers
