There was only one game in action tonight, which included a big matchup between the divisions’ best in Washington and Boston. The two teams are in playoff position right now, and both playing good hockey. This game meant a little more to Capitals defenseman Zedeno Chara, as it was his return to Boston since he left via free agency this past summer.
Washington @ Boston
The Washington Capitals are coming into this game riding high after they beat the Devils twice in their previous two meetings, getting depth scoring in each game. The Boston Bruins were coming off a big 4-1 win in New York on Monday night, in which they finally created some offense that had been lacking recently. This one was close and only featured two goals in regulation before extending to overtime and a shoot out, with Washington eventually winning it. The Capitals are finally getting some good goaltending from Vitec Vanecek and their defense seems to have picked it up the last few weeks after a slow start. Despite the Bruins losing, they picked up the point for going into overtime which will help them in the tight division.
Scoring:
1st Period: No Goals.
2nd Period: No Goals.
3rd Period: Bruins: David Pasternak (10, ES). Washington: Lars Eller (5, ES).
